Become A Mentor

Thank you for your interest in becoming a mentor at Hope Awaits Ministries!
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." ~ Matthew 28:19
Position Description for Mentors
Firstly, you don’t need to be a trained counselor, the staff at Hope Awaits Ministries are responsible for helping the clients with their “big items”, including:
  • Helping them with alcohol and/or drug addictions
  • Connecting them to other services that could help them if needed
  • Working with them to build their life skills

Mentors at Hope Awaits Ministries are responsible for:
  • Encouraging the client to live out what he is learning at Hope Awaits Ministries
  • Supporting the client when they struggle and fail
  • Meeting with the client on a regular basis
  • Building a relationship with and investing in the life of the client
  • Praying for the client and sharing the gospel as God creates opportunities
  • Directing them to speak to a staff member if they need assistance beyond your ability

What is the Level of Commitment and Where Does This Happen?
We ask that our mentors meet with the client they have been paired with on a weekly basis for an hour or so. Time commitment will depend on the friendship that develops and the level of need that exists combined with the time you have available. Mentors are welcome to meet with the client at Hope Awaits Ministries, however, you are also encouraged to meet with them at a public location (coffee shop, waterfront, etc.).  If you would like to meet your client at a different location and are unsure if it is permissible, please ask the staff at Hope Awaits Ministries.
