What is the Homeless Night Challenge?
The Homeless Night Challenge is an overnight fundraising competition designed to raise awareness for men’s homelessness in North Bay and area by demonstrating barriers homeless men face as well as raise money to offset the operational cost for Hope Awaits Men’s Homeless Shelter and Life Skills Programs.
How Does it Work?
Participant teams will commit to a fundraising goal and collect sponsors and pledges to compete in the challenge. Teams will construct a shelter and spend the night outside in their shelter. Throughout the challenge teams will earn points in a number of ways and a winning team will be announced at a wrap up breakfast the following morning.
Why Sponsor?
1. Create a future for the many vulnerable homeless men in our community.
It is estimated that there are 156 absolutely homeless people, and 357 people who are at risk of becoming homeless in North Bay. Since opening in May 2018, 24 men have been served, this means there is a lot of work left to do and the shelter relies solely on donations to operate.
2. Proceeds benefit Hope Awaits Men’s Homeless Shelter.
We are trying to keep the costs of the event as low as possible by accepting in-kind donations to help with the cost. This means that we can donate the maximum amount of money raised.
3.Great brand exposure! Reach a new market by sponsoring the event.
Build your brand community goals by aligning with the values of Hope Awaits. The event will be run in a highly visible location (Northgate Shopping Centre) with lots of traffic. We expect to have over 30 teams participating - which is approximately 120 participants who will be out in the community. Plus, lots of volunteers and even more people making donations! We will be advertising our event along with our sponsors and have significant media coverage on the day of the event.
Help break the cycle!
